Early Childhood Education Centre in Richmond

Meet some of the team at Champion Kids

I am a mother, the owner and operations manager of Champion Kids. I have 20 years nursing experience working in the Nelson region as a registered nurse in clinical and community settings supporting family's with their health and wellbeing.

I was born in Nelson and have ancestral links to the Nelson Tasman region.

My partner of 25 years Bruce and I have raised six children in Nelson. Our children have been the inspiration to create Champion Kids.

Our experiences as parents and our children attending preschool education over the years has helped us shape and develop Champion Kids Early Education Centre.

I especially enjoy supporting children to learn new skills and sharing in their joy when they master a task.

I will be actively involved with Champion Kids and will be working alongside our talented and qualified Teachers

In my spare time you will find me enjoying all the Nelson Tasman region has to offer and spending time supporting our youngest children in their various sporting activities.

I am the Centre Manager at Champion Kids and a fully certified Early Childhood Teacher with a Degree in Early Childhood Education.  I have been teaching in early childhood centres in the Nelson and Tasman regions for the past 12 years.

I live in Brightwater with my husband and our children Sophie and Tom, in our spare time we enjoy family time with our dog Bud, camping and spending time with our friends and family.

Growing up in a large family I have always been passionate about working with infants, toddlers and young children and feel very privileged to be able to provide a safe, fun and exciting preschool environment for your child and family.

I pride myself on making everyday fun, positive and teaching not only academically but holistically and helping children make discoveries and role modelling a love for learning and acquiring new information.

Hello my name is Liz and I work in the Preschool room.  I hold a Diploma of Teaching in Early Childhood Education and I am also fully certified.

Coming originally from Auckland I have worked in Early Childhood Educaction for over 22 years.

I love interacting with children and watching them too and develop from day to day.  I feel my role as an Early Childhood Teacher is very special and I do my best to make a positive impact with those I interact with.

Kia ora koutou,

Ko Wharepapa te maunga, ko Motueka te awa, ko Tai-o-Aorere te moana.

Nō Mapua ahau; e noho ana ahau i Wakefield.

Ko Natalie ahau.

I am Natalie Cochrane and I teach the infants and toddlers in the Cottage area. I gained my Bachelor of Teaching in Early Childhood Education in 2016, and I am a fully certified teacher. My teaching philosophy and practice reflects the importance of respectful, responsive, and caring relationships that nurture children's sense of belonging, well-being and confidence as learners and communicators. I was born and raised in the Nelson region and I currently live in Wakefield with my husband Michael who is a builder, my young daughter Arabella and our cat Shadow. Arabella enjoys coming to the Cottage with me. I have lived in Colombia, where my mum is from, and Ireland, but I have always returned to Nelson as my home town, my türangawaewae. I enjoy the arts, reading, cooking, and getting out into nature when I can. I consider it an incredible privilege to work with and alongside the children and whānau here at Champion Kids.

I am a Teacher Aide in the Cottage and Preschool areas.  I have been working for the past 6 years as a Teacher Aide in Early Childhood.  I love watching and supporting children to learn, grow and discover the world around them.  I have three children of my own - Taylor, Georgia and Stella.  I look forward to getting to know your child and family.

My name is Nanette but I get called Nan most of the time.  I work in the Preschool room with our 2 to 5 year olds.  I have been working in ECE for the past 10 years and hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education.  I am a social person who loves having people around her.  I thoroughly enjoy working with children and building relationships with them and their extended whānau.

I am married with two boys aged 15 and 17 and my oldest son has extra needs.  I am a bubbly fun person who enjoys being around friends and family.  When I'm not working I am spending time with my family doing sports, camping, and exploring the great place Nelson is.  I look forward to being part of your child's learning journey as they begin a new adventure in the Preschool room.

I am qualified and a fully certified teacher and I work in the Cottage area.  I graduated through Canterbury University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning in Early Childhood Education.  I live in Stoke with my husband Dylan and our son's Boston and Hudson.  In our spare time we love watching and playing sports especially rugby!  I have been working with infants and toddlers for four years now and have a real passion for working in this area.  I look forward to building strong relationships with you and your children and supporting them as they learn and grow.

Hi, You will find me mostly in the Preschool room as a Teacher Aide.  My husband Mat and I live locally in Richmond and have two teenage daughters Isabelle and Bridie.  I have a bubbly personality and I look forward to meeting you all and sharing some fun times with your fabulous children.

Kia ora,  I am the Senior Teacher in the Cottage area.  I have been working in Early childhood education for 22 years and I'm still as passionate about it now as I was then.  My husband Cory and I have two children, Regan and Jade.

I believe that whanaungatanga (relationships) with children and their families and open communication are the most important factors when it comes to successful early childhood education.  I look forward to getting to know you and your child(ren) and I am excited to be able to watch them grow and develop during their learning journey at Champion Kids.

I am a teacher aide in the Cottage area.  I have three children, Keyle, Luke and Finn and I enjoy watching them play sport, trail walking and orienteering.  I am excited and privileged to be supporting children at Champion Kids to achieve and have fun on their learning journeys.

I have just recently began my new kaiako (teacher) role here at Champion Kids.  I am excited to be working here and this is a little about me.  I live in Richmond with my 9 year old son, who attends Henley School.  I grew up in Otautahi (Christchurch) and have travelled around South East Asia, the Middle East and Europe before living in London for a year.  I love learning about different cultures and languages so I am currently working on incorporating more Te Reo Maori into my teaching practices.  I graduated with my teaching degree in 2016 and have been a kaiako for 2 year olds, and infants and toddlers at a Nelson centre for the past 4 years.  My passion in teaching is transition to school, so I can't wait to share this with your whanau (family).  Outside of work, my passion is sport and taekwondo.  I have done taekwondo for the past 3 years and compete in tournaments around the South Island.  I followed my son into the sport so it is something we enjoy doing together and we had our blue belt test together in December 2020.  Swimming is also a sport that I love and when I was studying for my teaching degree I worked at the Aquatic Centre as a swim instructor for children under 5.  I look forward to getting to know you all here at Champion Kids.
